Colt Python vs. Ruger GP100... Which one feels better in hand?
I’ve held both briefly but haven't taken em out to the range. For those of you who’ve ran both, which one feels more balanced and manageable during extended range sessions? Also curious about long-term durability.
I’ve shot both quite a bit and honestly it depends on what you value
for the Colt Python:
- has Smoother action, beautifully balanced
- the grip feels a bit more refined, especially if you have medium to large hands
-it’s a “Cadillac” of revolvers but obviously that's going to cost you
for the Ruger GP100:
- it's a heavier, beefier feel, super rugged
-grip is comfortable but chunkier which is good for recoil control
- its built like a tank. I’d take it into the woods over the Python any day
For a good time shooting, and nothing else, Python edges it out. For reliability and value, GP100 is hard to beat. Try to handle both, the grip shape and weight distribution might make the decision for you
