Hi, what are some of the most common causes of a misfire or failure to fire in a .22 rimfire rifle, and how can I troubleshoot/prevent them?

Usually rimfire issues stem from using cheap ammo. Buy high qual ammo and you won't have that issue. A gummed up firing pin could also cause misfire issues -- or a broken firing pin

As @MadMax said, it usually isn't your gun that is causing the misfire. Unless your firing pin is messed up. It's usually unreliable ammo. In that case, you need to look out for hangfires. Just be careful, don't be an idiot. Practice proper safety procedures.
